Does anybody have any idea what this red blinking light is telling me? I have been driving it like that for 2 years but there is nothing wrong with it. If your light is on- check codes and that will help pinpint. It turned out that my satellite radio signal was interfering with the unit. As far as I know, nobody has ever installed any alarm system on this car. I can read some text on the back. This should reset anything that is confusing it. I had a problem with one I had with another vehicle maybe Carr or CodeAlarm?.
The Security indicator light has started to flash off and on when the power if off. I just had the spark plugs changed and a cencer? If low has to be changed. It is not down in front of the driver with speedometer etc. Since the battery is still providing juice to power the lights, I'm assuming this isn't a battery issue. Leaving your headlights on can be a problem.
Hi everybody, I have a 1998 4Runner that recently won't start. Vehicles without navigation system Vehicles without smart key system: The indicator light flashes after the key has been removed from the engine switch to indicate that the system is operating. It seems like it would not be very difficult for Toyota or any other automaker to set up. The dealer detailed the car since the test drive. When I open any door, the tail lights and the front side lights switch on and off 15 times in a row, and then turn off.
As far as I know, nobody has ever installed any alarm system on this car. There's a red light on the instrument panel, right next to the Instrument panel light control knob, that won't stop flashing. If you only have an engine immobilizer, the light will blink as long as the key is out of the ignition. I told her it was normal and we had a bit of a laugh about it. The only way a Prius can be stolen is with the key.
I couldn't see any thankfully. Whether the key is in the ignition or not, the red light keeps blinking. An engine immobiliser refuses to fire up the engine unless the correct coded-key is used if it's an electronically coded immobiliser. Fast forward to this morning. I've been thinking about this, and have no good ideas. Truck started fine, however, once started both lights continued to blink.
The blinking light is just there to alert potential thieves that your car has the feature that requires the chip to run. Had dead battery but running now. Never leave the keys inside the vehicle when you leave the vehicle. It bugged me but not to the point where i finally did something about it. Or else its problem with any of switch wiring getting in contact with alarm wiring causing it to happen.
This just started and I see on page 186, refering to page 108 in the manual that it has something to do with the transponder. Whether the key is in the ignition or not, the red light keeps blinking. This is the same key and fob used since day 1. There are dozens of reasons for that. Thanks Mark for the reply.
Whether the key is in the ignition or not, the red light keeps blinking. It doesn't really mean anythig normally, so ignore it - unless it comes when you try to start the car. It's better to start from pulling trouble codes from your computer. There's a red light on the instrument panel, right next to the Instrument panel light control knob, that won't stop flashing. I can understand if it flashes when the doors are locked, our Camry does, but to flash all the time is hard to comprehend.
After turning the ignition off for the third time and waiting for twenty seconds, the engine should start and run. You do have to wonder if people really should have at least a 'basic' knowledge of the car before they would be legally allowed to drive the vehicle. What might that light indicate? So don't know what you were doing in the past with the car or what position the ignition was in??? And last thing alarm connections need to be inspected. I had the same feeling about the tire presure system and after 4 dealer trips and 3 new sensors I ended up just disabling the light by cutting the connection in the back. If you are using a valet key, the light will remain on for only a few seconds.
Fast forward to this morning. I checked under the dash and found 2 boxes that look like they could be an alarm box. Since the battery is still providing juice to power the lights, I'm assuming this isn't a battery issue. I am sure it is described in your manual. I'm not sure what they are trying to say. Initially, I thought the alarm had been triggered as this light blinked rapidly. What does it mean when you take the car keys out and the dashboard goes on and off like 20 times also All the lights do it, like the radio and the shifter where it says park, drive reverse, 123 exc.
